Jordan Hendrikse has been named as the Lions’ starting flyhalf for Saturday’s URC match against the Glasgow Warriors in Johannesburg.
Hendrikse takes over the No. 10 jersey from Gianni Lombard, who moves to the bench.
It’s one of two changes to the Lions starting XV that lost 39-37 at home to Ulster last weekend, with PJ Botha replacing Jaco Visagie on the bench.
Lions assistant coach Ricardo Loubscher praised his team’s never-say-die attitude after last weekend’s narrow defeat.
“We talked a lot about keeping our cool and being patient.
It all comes down to how we start the game, but the boys did an excellent job in the last 20 minutes of taking the game to the opposition “He stated.
Loubscher emphasised the importance of getting off to a fast start against the Scottish team this weekend.
“The most important thing for us is to get off to a good start.
Whether it’s in the first or second half, we need to build scoreboard pressure and maintain it for the majority of the 80 [minutes].
“Despite a tough outing against the Sharks last week, we know what Glasgow Warriors are capable of.
“We’ve worked hard this week and are looking forward to Saturday,” the coach concluded.
The game at Ellis Park on Saturday begins at 16:05.
