Tiger Woods, who is recovering from severe leg injuries sustained in a car accident in 2021, fell to a career-low 1 206th in the world golf rankings released on Monday.
The 15-time major winner, who is second only to Jack Nicklaus on the all-time list with 18 wins, dropped seven spots from his previous low, which came in 2017 after back surgery.
Woods topped the world rankings for a record 683 weeks before collapsing due to back and leg injuries.
Woods delighted fans last weekend by playing his nine-hole par-3 course, The Hay at Pebble Beach, posting social media videos of his putting and driving abilities, and walking some hilly terrain.
Woods, who has 82 PGA Tour victories with Sam Snead, has made only a limited comeback since suffering leg injuries in a one-car accident in Southern California in February 2021, which left him hospitalised for weeks and bed-ridden for months.
After a 14-month layoff, he returned to competition in the Masters last April, finishing 47th after walking 72 holes at Augusta National.
The 46-year-old legend withdrew after three rounds at the PGA Championship in May at Southern Hills and missed the cut in the Open Championship in July at St. Andrews.
Speculation has centred on when Woods might be able to play again, with much of it centred on his Hero World Challenge invitational charity event, which begins on December 1 in the Bahamas.
The Challenge had 17 players announced last week, with three spots left open for exemptions, one of which could go to Woods if he wants to play.
