The light heavyweight duo were back at UFC 263 after a booking between Paul Craig and Jamahal Hill fell through earlier this year. Craig was acting as the gatekeeper for Saturday’s PPV card in front of a sold-out crowd in Glendale, Arizona. While Hill was looking to improve his stock in a division now ruled by Jan Blachowicz.

With the departure of fighters such as Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, 205lbs was in desperate need of some new blood. There was just one problem: Craig was too much for Hill to handle on Saturday. He wrecked Hill’s arm in a wince-inducing sequence, which was the first of two problems.

The first few minutes of the fight were spent figuring out who was who, with both men exchanging kicks. When Hill became a little more aggressive, Craig immediately tied up and went to guard.

To begin, he threatened a Mir lock, followed by another. Craig appeared to dislocate (if not outright break) Hill’s arm as he transitioned out of the position, then locked in a triangle choke.

The referee, on the other hand, didn’t seem to notice what had happened. Craig had to finish with elbows because Hill was frantically waving his free hand.

Paul Craig And Fellow Boxers Awarded With $50,000

Following Saturday’s pay-per-view event at Gila River Area, the UFC awarded four $50,000 bonuses to Paul Craig, Brandon Moreno, Drew Dober, and Brad Riddell.

Craig earned his bonus for a brutal first-round armbar of Jamahal Hill in the pay-per-view opener. Hill was transported to the hospital with an arm that was suspected to be broken, but his team later confirmed that he only suffered a dislocation.

Terrance McKinney, who knocked out Matt Frevola in just seven seconds with a one-two down the pipe, was left off the official list of bonuses. The UFC newcomer entered the fight on short notice, and while celebrating his victory, he injured his knee.

Fortunately for McKinney, UFC President Dana White stated during the post-fight press conference that, while the fighter would not receive an official bonus, he would receive an unofficial bonus.
