Kylie Jenner takes a major scripted role in Hulu thriller Bachelorette Weekend.

The reality television star and beauty entrepreneur is set to lead and executive produce a new murder mystery for Hulu, with Kim Kardashian also joining the project behind the scenes.

Kylie Jenner is preparing for the most substantial acting role of her career, moving from reality television and carefully chosen cameos into a scripted thriller built around a murder at a c celebration.

Jenner is set to star in and executive produce Bachelorette Weekend, a working-title drama currently finalising a straight-to-series deal with Hulu. The project will also be executive produced by her sister Kim Kardashian, extending a professional relationship with Hulu that has already made the Kardashian-Jenner family one of the platform’s most recognisable entertainment properties.

The premise is straightforward but gives Jenner an unusual position within the story. She will play a bride-to-be who is found dead in a swimming pool during a weekend away with her closest friends. The women who travelled with her become suspects, while the series reconstructs the relationships and events that preceded the killing.

Deadline, which first reported the project, described Jenner’s character as the narrative’s “North Star”, suggesting that her presence will continue to shape the series even after the murder. Hulu had not publicly announced the series at the time of the report, and a representative for the streamer declined to comment.

For Jenner, the significance is clear. She has spent most of her adult life on camera, but appearing as herself before reality television crews is very different from carrying a scripted drama in which a performance has to support mystery, character history, and emotional ambiguity. Bachelorette Weekend will be the first serious test of whether she can translate nearly two decades of screen familiarity into conventional acting.

Kylie Jenner Moves Further Into Scripted Acting

Jenner has not arrived at the project without any acting experience, although her previous work has been limited. She appeared as herself in Ocean’s 8 in 2018 and voiced a character in the NBC special Trolls: Holiday in Harmony. More recently, she appeared in Charli XCX’s A24 project The Moment, playing an exaggerated version of herself in the film’s self-aware treatment of celebrity culture.

That appearance appears to have encouraged a more deliberate interest in acting. Earlier this year, Jenner said she had been receiving scripts and wanted to pursue additional roles once she found the right material.

The move into Bachelorette Weekend is considerably larger than those earlier appearances. Rather than asking Jenner to make a joke about her public image or appear as a recognisable celebrity, the series places her inside an ensemble mystery in which her character’s relationships are expected to drive the plot.

Her fame will inevitably influence the way the programme is received. Jenner has been a public figure since childhood, first appearing on Keeping Up With the Kardashians when she was 10 and later building a cosmetics business alongside her television career. Audiences already possess a highly developed impression of her personality, even though that impression has largely been constructed through reality television, social media and advertising.

A scripted role asks her to work against that familiarity rather than depend entirely on it.

Bachelorette Weekend Builds Its Mystery Around A Murdered Bride

The series originates with an unpublished novel by writer Flora Collins. Author and screenwriter Lauren Oliver developed the material through her company StoryGiants and wrote the television adaptation. Oliver is known for novels including Before I Fall, the Delirium series, and Panic, the latter of which she adapted for television.

Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment developed the television project, with Kapital and 20th Television attached as co-studios. Jenner, Kardashian, Oliver, and Aaron Kaplan are executive producers, while Jaiden Kaplan serves as co-executive producer.

The setup has the structure of a contained mystery. A group of women gather for what should be a private celebration before a wedding; the bride is murdered, and attention turns almost immediately to the friends closest to her.

That format gives the writers considerable room to move between the investigation and the history of the group. If Jenner’s character remains central after her death, the series can reveal different versions of the bride depending on who is remembering her and what each person has to hide.

It also gives the production something that celebrity-driven projects often lack: a concept that can exist independently of the star attached to it. The casting will attract attention, but the underlying mystery still has to sustain multiple episodes.

Kim Kardashian Helped Bring The Project To Her Sister

The involvement of Kim Kardashian is more substantial than attaching a famous family name to the credits.

According to Deadline’s reporting, the script was initially sent to Kardashian as a producing opportunity. She believed the project could provide a strong starring role for Jenner and passed the material to her sister. Both subsequently joined the series.

The project was then taken to Hulu through Kardashian’s first-look relationship with 20th Television. The streamer moved to acquire it before the series went more widely into the market, although negotiations over the straight-to-series order were still being completed when the project became public.

Kardashian has been expanding her own work in scripted entertainment in recent years. After appearing in American Horror Story: Delicate, she took a leading role and executive producer credit on Hulu’s legal drama All’s Fair. She is also involved in additional scripted and unscripted projects across television and film.

That progression gives the sisters’ collaboration on Bachelorette Weekend a different context. The Kardashian-Jenner business has traditionally been built around turning real lives into entertainment. This project reverses that arrangement by taking two people whose fame is rooted in reality television and placing them on the production side of a fictional murder mystery.

Hulu Has A Longstanding Relationship With The Kardashian-Jenner Family

Hulu is an obvious home for the project because the platform already has an extensive commercial relationship with the family.

The Kardashians have been part of Hulu since 2022, with Jenner appearing alongside Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. Members of the family also serve as executive producers on the reality series.

Earlier this year, Hulu expanded that relationship by securing US streaming rights to all 20 seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, along with several of the franchise’s earlier spin-offs and specials. The deal effectively brought much of the family’s television history under the same streaming roof.

That history gives Bachelorette Weekend an immediate audience advantage. Hulu does not need to introduce Jenner to subscribers or explain her relationship with Kardashian. The platform has years of Kardashian-Jenner programming available alongside the new scripted project.

The challenge will be convincing viewers to regard Jenner as a character rather than simply another version of the public personality they already know.

Kylie Jenner Faces A Different Kind Of Screen Test

Celebrity casting is hardly unusual, and the entertainment industry has repeatedly cast musicians, models and reality television figures in scripted roles. Fame can generate awareness for a project long before a trailer arrives, but it cannot resolve the basic question of whether an actor fits the material.

Jenner’s role is particularly interesting because she will apparently spend at least part of the series being understood through other characters.

A murdered bride in a mystery is rarely a neutral figure. Friends may remember her differently. Private conflicts can complicate the public image of the victim, while the investigation gradually exposes information that was hidden when the group arrived for the weekend.

That could suit an actor whose own public identity has been interpreted for years through edited television, social media and celebrity coverage. The connection does not need to become an explicit comment on Jenner’s life, but the tension between the image people know and the person they do not could give the character additional weight if the writing uses it intelligently.

It will also place more pressure on Jenner than a cameo designed around her celebrity status. Even if her character dies early in the narrative, the mystery depends on viewers remaining interested in what happened to her and why.

Bachelorette Weekend Still Has Important Details To Reveal

Several major elements remain unknown. No premiere date has been announced, and the rest of the cast has not been disclosed. The number of episodes is also unclear, as are the director and the extent to which the series will remain faithful to Collins’ unpublished source material.

Those details will determine whether Bachelorette Weekend develops into a conventional celebrity vehicle or something more ambitious.

For the moment, the project represents a significant change in how Jenner is approaching television. She has already spent much of her life allowing cameras to document her family, relationships, and businesses. Scripted drama requires a different kind of control, but also a different kind of exposure. A performance cannot rely entirely on the audience’s existing interest in the person playing the role.

The casting will guarantee curiosity when Bachelorette Weekend eventually reaches viewers. Whether that curiosity turns into sustained interest will depend on the writing, the ensemble around Jenner and, most of all, whether she can make audiences forget for a few hours that they already think they know Kylie Jenner.
