Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth should be available for the Sharks when they face the Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship on October 15.

This means Etzebeth, along with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, hooker Bongi Mbonambi, and scrumhalf Jaap Hendrikse, will play against Ulster next week and the week after.

The URC will be suspended for the majority of November to allow for the Autumn internationals, in which the Boks will play Ireland, France, Italy, and England on consecutive weekends.

Chetty stated that the Bok players returned to training on Monday and will be ready for combat starting next week. “The Bok players were given a week off immediately following the Rugby Championship, and they returned to training on Monday,” Chetty explained.

“They’ll spend the week in Durban before rejoining the team after their trip to Europe.”

“They’ll be in the running for matches after that.”

The Sharks may have won their first two European matches against Zebre and the Dragons, but nothing about their performance in those games was convincing.

The Sharks’ rolling maul was one of the disappointing aspects.

With Irish giants Leinster on the horizon this weekend, Whiteley said they’ve improved in that aspect of the game, even though Leinster will put them to the test.

“We’ve been working on some specific details for the last two weeks or so,” Whiteley explained.

“We were disappointed, especially in the first game, but we felt we improved against the Dragons.”

“However, it was not up to our expectations.” We’ve focused on that, and we know Leinster has a strong pack.

“This weekend is another chance for us to improve in that area.”
