Manny Pacquiao called an exhibition fight against a South Korean YouTuber in December “my comeback to the ring,” saying he wants to demonstrate that he “is still there in boxing.”
The 43-year-old boxing legend retired from the sport last year to run for president of his country, and he is now following in the footsteps of his old rival, Floyd Mayweather, by staging an exhibition match.
“I’ll try to show Manny Pacquiao is still alive and well in boxing,” he said, refusing to rule out a rematch with Mayweather.
“This is my return to the ring, this is my passion, so even though it’s an exhibition match, I have to work hard.”
“I’ll try to finish the fight quickly so we can get home,” he added, implying that he intends to knock out the South Korean.
Pacquiao, a multiple world champion who retired with a 62-8-2 record, admitted, “When I retired from boxing, I felt lonely.”
