Despite criticism of the American’s first few months in charge, new Chelsea manager Graham Potter said he is impressed by chairman Todd Boehly’s vision for the club.
Potter left Brighton last week to sign a five-year contract with Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel was fired.
“New ownership, who I was very excited about and impressed with, first as people, and then their vision for the club and what they wanted to do.”
Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League after a poor start to the season in which they lost their first Champions League game 1-0 away to Dinamo Zagreb.
Potter established a reputation at Brighton for punching above his weight while playing an appealing brand of football.
However, the pressure will be on him from the start when Chelsea hosts Salzburg in his first Champions League game on Wednesday.
“We like to play attacking, balanced football, and players must feel free to make decisions and express themselves,” Potter added.

“It’s about winning, about building a team that competes, is honest, and works well together; it’s a blend of football and human values.
“You must first understand that they are human beings; the key is to understand what motivates them and what they are like as people.
“From there, you find some common ground and begin to build relationships, communicate on a daily basis, and develop respect, trust, and honesty.”
