The Joburg Super Kings have named former Proteas all-rounder Albie Morkel as their assistant coach, as the excitement surrounding the SA20 T20 competition grows.
Morkel, who played for the IPL’s Super Kings franchise, rose to prominence as a powerful hitter and useful bowler.
The 41-year-old only played one Test match for South Africa but was a regular in the shorter format.
Morkel appeared in 58 One-Day Internationals for South Africa, scoring 782 runs at an average of 23.69 and a strike rate of 100.25 while also taking 50 wickets.

He represented South Africa on 50 occasions in T20 cricket, scoring 572 runs at an impressive strike rate of 142.28 and taking 26 wickets.
While the SA20 player auction takes place in September, the Super Kings have already announced several players, including Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, Romario Shepherd, and Gerald Coetzee.
