Armed robbers shot and killed a security guard in the Coronation informal settlement outside of Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, on Saturday morning.

According to police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the 57-year-old guard and his colleague were attacked on their way to work by three armed men.

The third suspect is accused of searching the victims, stealing their phones and cash, and threatening them with a gun and a knife.

The guard was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called.

The police were investigating the robbery and murder, but no arrests had been made.
